Who this is for

For dads who want to follow through on their health and fitness goals without relying on willpower alone.

How do I stay accountable?

Find an accountability partner, coach, or supportive community. Share your goals and commitments, and talk about the support you need. You don’t have to do this solo.

Think of accountability as the sidekick to your willpower. When motivation falters, having someone in your corner can help you stay on track. Knowing what to do and having support to follow through are different things. Give yourself both.

What should I do with that support?

Put your commitments into action, starting small. Accountability isn’t just talking about what you want to achieve. It’s taking steps towards it, with people who know what you’re working on.

Be clear about your goals and the support you need from your partner, coach, or community. Then celebrate the small wins along the way. They count, even when they don’t feel impressive. Recognising progress can help build confidence and motivation for the next step.

What if I have a setback?

Focus on progress, not perfection. Life throws curveballs, and accountability can help you navigate them rather than relying on willpower to carry the whole load.

Keep the conversation going with the people supporting you. Talk about the support you need now, take small actions towards your goals, and acknowledge what’s moving forward. The goal is progress, not a perfect record.

He did push me to my limits and I achieved results. I never thought possible Having that accountability partner transform not just my body but mostly my mindset. It was a true game changer. You've heard it before Willpower alone won't cut it. But what if I told you that accountability is like the sidekick to your willpower. It swoops in when your willpower falters and keeps you on the right path. It's like Batman and Robin, an unstoppable duo.

Master the Art of Accountability with Guinness World Record Holder Andrew Weiss

Uh, you know, four years ago I was unstoppable. I was doing this three times a day. I was doing that, I was going to the gym, I was managing all these clients, but now I'm not doing much and they're like I guess I need to up my accountability because I know that person exists and I I want to bring that person back and accountability is one of the best ways to do that. Oh gosh, well said, I needed this conversation more than anything else. So many things going on, right, and I appreciate that you suffer from the shiny object syndrome too. Then I'm actually taking access toward it. That's what this accountability system is for. That's why it's been so successful to help me, um, help other clients, get to 10 K months, lose a bunch of weight, write books, write great websites, sell companies and just really stay on track, more than they ever thought they could. I think it's so fantastic. I love everything you're throwing down, my man, because I I too I know there's times where in the past I've struggled with accountability, but but it's, it's funny. It's not accountability the others, it's accountability to myself yes and, and I know that that's why I need other people to hold me accountable you know, because as much as I, like to think I'm a self-starter. I know what to do, I can get this done and there's been periods of my life I've been able to sustain that output.

How to Stay Positively Motivated Even When Life Gets Hard

Literally, it's been shown to be extremely successful for people when they have someone in their corner. It helps them maintain that accountability, not only to themselves but to the others that they're making those commitments to, just by doing the actions. The way I think about it is every time I go to the gym. Yeah, it's for me, it's to make myself feel better, because I know after a workout I always feel a little bit less stress. I also have a lot clearer focus with my mind. Attention-wise, I have better energy to be present. But I also remember that it makes me a better person around my family and around my friends and around my community, because exercise, or being healthy body, ties into my mental health as well. Everything's connected, right, but what happens when you're stuck? How do you get unstuck? The key is finding your why.

Where's the accountability? Like what if people are actually serious about their goals and they don't want to have excuses anymore? What can be done about that? And from learning from Dr Benjamin Hardy, I've learned that, like what you said, just a 2% difference, 1% difference stacked up over time, compound interest not only applies to money, but applies to overall life success as well. To money, but applies to overall life success as well. And so, for example, a favorite example I like to use is you know, one of the clients I helped. He was in bad shape. He was, I think, like 100 pounds overweight. He was eating candy all the time and I said hey, what are the tiniest tweaks you can make in your life that you think would really help you? He goes well, I guess I could stop eating candy. And I just want to run one mile every day for the next 60 days and I'm going.

How to Stay Positively Motivated Even When Life Gets Hard

A study in psychology today suggests that our motivation styles are as unique as our fingerprints. Detailed health stats motivate some of us, while others need a supportive community or a personal cheerleader, as I like to say, an accountabuddy, someone to hold them accountable right, that friend that shows up in your doorstep at five through the morning because they're your ride to the gym and they don't leave until you're at the door with them. Literally, it's been shown to be extremely successful for people when they have someone in their corner. It helps them maintain that accountability, not only to themselves but to the others that they're making those commitments to, just by doing the actions.
