How much water should I drink?

Short answer

Aim for eight to 10 glasses of water a day, about two to two and a half liters when each glass holds 250 milliliters. Drink regularly rather than waiting until you feel thirsty. If you forget, reminders can help build the habit. Even mild dehydration can cause fatigue and affect basic body functions.

Who this is for

For dads who want a straightforward daily water target and a habit they can stick with. This is coaching and archive context, not diagnosis or medical advice; take concerning symptoms or decisions about your personal fluid intake to a qualified health professional.

How much water should I drink each day?

Aim for eight to 10 glasses of water a day. With a 250-millilitre glass, that works out to about two to two and a half litres. Keep that glass size in mind: the number of glasses only makes sense when you know how much each one holds.

Keep it straightforward. The practical takeaway is a daily water target paired with a regular drinking habit, not another complicated routine to manage.

Should I wait until I feel thirsty?

No. Drink regularly rather than waiting until you feel thirsty. The archive’s message is clear: you do not need to wait for that “I really need water” moment before drinking.

If you tend to forget, use reminders. An app that prompts you to drink can help build the habit. Make hydration something you do regularly, rather than something you remember only when thirst gets your attention.

Why does staying hydrated matter?

Even mild dehydration can cause fatigue and affect basic body functions. Water supports the everyday processes your body carries out on autopilot.

That is the reason to give this simple habit some attention. Start with the target, drink regularly, and use reminders if forgetting is what gets in your way.
